About
Summary
With the Puget Sound continuing its rapid growth, fueled by many new residents migrating to this beautiful area, locations, where land is being underutilized, are being revitalized. The AvalonBay Alderwood Place, a 300-unit community that replaces a poorly performing big-box retailer, is one of these communities. Located to take advantage of the Interurban Trail, easy access to shopping, dining, and numerous transportation modes, is helping to transform an area once dominated by a car-only shopping mall.
Certa Building Solutions’ involvement on the project began as the peer-reviewing consultant to GGLO Architecture as they developed the enclosure details. Through drawing and specification review, Certa aided GGLO’s efforts to detail the various cladding and roof systems along with the enormous below-grade stormwater detention vault. Certa continued to aid the project team throughout construction, providing GGLO’s Construction Administration team and AvalonBay’s construction team technical guidance as they executed the vertical and horizontal waterproofing assemblies for this five over one concrete and wood structure. Certa was further engaged by MG2 Architects to work with them and their Client, Brookfield Properties, to provide design guidance as they detailed enclosure-related items at the various retail areas of the property.
Through sound technical guidance and practical solutions, Certa has been an integral member of the AvalonBay Alderwood Place team as we deliver a market-changing building to the community of Lynnwood, Washington.
